Hello Dear Readers! Once upon a time I wrote a blog that was all personal, all the time. On that blog, I documented our adventures and wrote about my goals every month. I found that writing it out actually enabled me to see a bigger picture, and allowed me to reach several big hopes and dreams. Putting it out there publically forced me to 1. Narrow down if it was important enough to announce and 2. Got me on the ball! I now had others that knew what I was doing, and cheering me on.
This year, I’m bringing the goal sharing back. If it helps you on your journey, I will be thrilled. Setting and keeping goals is something in life that makes me feel good.
This year I wrapped my head not just around what I want to accomplish, but what kind of person to I want to be? What example can I set for my family?
I am more excited about this year’s goals than any other so far! Here are my personal goals for 2017, and of course in my compartmentalized thought process, they are broken down by category!
52 Weeks of Letters: I want to get out of my head once a week and sit down to write a letter to a friend or family member. It’s important to me especially as we move farther away from our loved ones that they know we care. Also, it is a good way to slowly start teaching my daughter the beautiful tradition of snail mail.

365 Days of Super Saving
We are in a new stage financially as a family (adulating!!) With my husband’s new job, we have the unique opportunity to travel this year. I want to make some big cut backs on unnecessary spending so we can have more time as a family, adventuring! I’ll work on sharing what unique ways we are cutting back on the blog soon.
We are also hoping to put enough aside over the next three years for a down payment on a house.
I am planning to read two books on finance in 2017, to make the most of what we have and get better prepared for our future.
Focus on Family
We’re never certain how much time we get with daddy, so my hope for 2017 is that we make it count. I want to keep strengthening our bonds as a unit, and be each other’s people. It begins with us.
My Creative Heart
I can get pretty intense tunnel vision when I’m working on a project. I’ve made Uplifting Anchor my main project. This space is well loved, but I need to start branching out and filling up my creative heart in other ways.
There’s a running dialogue in my head of mediums I want to try. Watercolor, hand lettering, sewing my way through my stash! I’d like to make a beautiful quilt, puppet-theater, dress, and matching aprons for my daughter. I need to make time for that this year.
This blog is the launching point for so much more that I want to do! It’s up to me to make those dreams come true. Much of it is finding the time, and energy to develop my skills. I would like to learn Adobe Photoshop, stay 2 months ahead on this blog, make my first product, and *gasp* submit my writing to other venues.
God has come back into my life in a big way. That’s a whole other post for a different day, but I want to bring Christ into our hearts and our home. I want to celebrate His name and study the Bible this year. I want my daughter to know Him.
It is time to shake off Hawaii. We had a beautiful time there, and I will never forget it, but I also do not want to remain in the past. Now it’s the season of our next adventure.
